That's a great stat but who the fuck keeps stats like that?

Richard Jolly, obviously

Great stat from Richard Jolly:

This will be the first season since 1930-31 when none of Stanley Matthews, Peter Shilton and Gianluigi Buffon makes a first-team appearance.

Arguably the best keeper ever.

One of the last players to be still playing from when I was a kid in school!

Man utd were heavily linked to him when at Parma to take over from Schmeciel. They choose Bosnich instead!

A great player and bloke.

I was in Lille when Ireland beat Italy with them already qualified. He was delighted we got the winner and was celebrating with the crowd.

Great moment.

Absolute legend of the game.

I’d struggle to think of a better keeper in the modern game - maybe Manuel Neuer.

Best keeper I’ve seen play live.

Had the good fortune to watch him quite a few times in Italy. I’d put him above Schmeichel, Shilton and others. Even the legend that is “Big Nev” Southall.

I’m sure there have been better keepers I never saw live - Banks or Yashin, maybe? But this guy was regularly superb. Another level.

Even Torino fans liked him. Which is unheard of.

Only Tom McAllister gets close!

My friends were Juve when he came from Parma (the first time I guess). There was a save on Inzaghi in the Champions League in the early 2000s that I still don't know how he did it because he was unsighted. Alway stuck with me.

Anyway, a pleasure to watch over the years and seems pretty classy.
